Senlis

Also known as Augustomagus

Senlis is a town in the Oise department of northern France, north of Paris. As Augustomagus it was the chief town of the Gallic Silvanectes under Rome, and its late Roman walls partly survive. Hugh Capet was elected king of the Franks there in 987, and its early Gothic cathedral was begun in 1153.
