Sibu

Sibu is a town on the lower Rajang River in central Sarawak, Malaysia. It grew under the Brooke rajahs, especially after the settlement of Foochow Chinese immigrants from 1901, and became a major river port and commercial centre for the Rajang basin. In December 1949 Governor Duncan Stewart was assassinated there by Rosli Dhobi.
