Sumu-epuh

r. c. 1810–1780 BCE · 18th century BCE

Sumu-epuh was the first known king of Yamhad, ruling from Halab (Aleppo) in northern Syria from about 1810 to 1780 BCE. Letters from Mari show him resisting Shamshi-Adad I of Upper Mesopotamia, who allied with the city of Qatna against him. His son Yarim-Lim I made Yamhad the leading power of Syria.
