Suq al-Shuyukh

Also known as Souq al-Shuyukh

Suq al-Shuyukh is a town on the Euphrates in Dhi Qar Governorate of southern Iraq, on the edge of the marshes. Its name means 'market of the sheikhs': it grew in the 18th century as the market town and base of the Sa'dun chiefs of the Muntafiq confederation, trading in dates, grain and livestock.
