Taika Reform
The Taika Reform was a programme of political reforms begun in Japan in 645. Inspired by Chinese models, it sought to strengthen the imperial court, bring land and people under state control and create a centralised administration. Accounts of the Tang Dynasty present it as an example of how Tang governance served as a template for state-building elsewhere in East Asia.
