Tang Dynasty
The Tang Dynasty ruled China from 618 to 907 and is often regarded as a high point of Chinese civilisation. Its capital Chang'an was a cosmopolitan centre linked to Central Asia by the Silk Road, and its institutions, law and culture influenced Japan, Korea and Vietnam. It interacted closely with the Gokturk Empire and the Abbasid Caliphate, and its collapse was followed by fragmentation and eventual reunification under the Song Dynasty.
