Silk Road

The Silk Road was the network of overland trade routes linking China with Central Asia, Iran, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Along it travelled silk, spices, horses, precious metals, religions and technologies. Empires including the Han and Tang dynasties, the Parthian and Sasanian empires and the Mongol, Chagatai and Ilkhanate states drew wealth from controlling its routes.
