Song Dynasty
The Song Dynasty ruled China from 960 to 1279, first from Kaifeng in the north and then, after the Jin conquest of the north, from Hangzhou in the south. It saw remarkable economic growth, urbanisation, paper money, printing and gunpowder weapons, along with a civil service recruited by examination. It was conquered by the Mongols, who founded the Yuan Dynasty.
