Yuan Dynasty
The Yuan Dynasty was the Mongol-ruled dynasty of China, proclaimed by Kublai Khan in 1271, which completed the conquest of the Southern Song in 1279. It made Beijing, then Dadu, its capital, promoted trade across Eurasia and patronised Tibetan Buddhism. Weakened by factional conflict, floods, plague and rebellion, it was driven from China in 1368 by the founder of the Ming Empire.
