Mongolia
Mongolia is a region of steppe, mountains and desert in north-east Asia. It was the homeland of successive nomadic empires, including the Xiongnu Empire, the Gokturk Empire and the Mongol Empire. After the fall of the Yuan Dynasty, Mongol rulers withdrew there, and the Qing Empire later brought it under its control.
