Tarnobrzeg
Tarnobrzeg is a town in south-eastern Poland on the Vistula, in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. Founded in the late 16th century by the Tarnowski family, it lay in Austrian Galicia from 1772 to 1918. In November 1918 the priest Eugeniusz Okoń and Tomasz Dąbal proclaimed a short-lived peasant republic in the area, and after the Second World War the town grew with the mining of nearby sulphur deposits.
