Temple of the Tooth
The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, or Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple in the royal palace complex at Kandy, Sri Lanka, that houses the relic of the Buddha's tooth. Possession of the relic was long seen as conferring the right to rule the island, and the kings of Kandy built the present temple in the 17th and 18th centuries. The annual Esala Perahera procession honours it.
