Templo Mayor
The Templo Mayor was the great twin-temple pyramid at the centre of Tenochtitlan, dedicated to Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc. It was enlarged in successive building phases, and its expanded form was rededicated in 1487 under the ruler Ahuitzotl. This rededication was accompanied by a ceremony of mass sacrifice that reportedly lasted four days.
