Wanyan Yongji

d. 1213 · 13th century · Also known as Prince Weishao

Wanyan Yongji, known by his posthumous title Weishao Wang (Prince of Weishao), was emperor of the Jurchen Jin dynasty from 1208 to 1213. A son of the emperor Shizong, he faced the first great Mongol invasion under Genghis Khan, whose victory at Yehuling in 1211 exposed the weakness of Jin defences. In 1213 he was murdered in a coup led by the general Hushahu, and was later denied the title of emperor.
