White Revolution
The White Revolution was a programme of reforms launched by Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi of Iran and approved by referendum in January 1963. It included land reform, the sale of state factories, profit-sharing for workers, a literacy corps and votes for women. It weakened landlords and clergy, and opposition to it brought Ruhollah Khomeini to prominence.
