Wu Zhou
Wu Zhou was the dynasty proclaimed by Wu Zetian in 690, which interrupted Tang rule until 705. Named Zhou after the ancient dynasty, it is known to historians as Wu Zhou to distinguish it. Accounts of the Tang Dynasty treat this interlude as part of the dynasty's early history, after which Tang rule was restored.
