Person
Yunus Khoja
Yunus Khoja was the ruler of Tashkent in the late 18th century, who united the city's four rival quarters in the 1780s and built a short-lived independent state. He extended his authority over neighbouring Kazakh lands and the trade routes of the steppe. After his death his successors could not hold the city against the Khanate of Kokand, which absorbed Tashkent in 1809.
