1936 Summer Olympics
The 1936 Summer Olympics were held in Berlin in August 1936. The Nazi regime used them as a propaganda showcase, temporarily toning down open anti-Jewish measures, and introduced the torch relay from Olympia. The African-American athlete Jesse Owens won four gold medals, and Leni Riefenstahl's film Olympia recorded the Games.
