Adiatuanus

1st century BCE · 1st century BCE

Adiatuanus was king of the Sotiates, an Aquitanian people of south-western Gaul, in 56 BCE. According to Julius Caesar, he defended their stronghold against Caesar's legate Publius Crassus and, after a failed sortie with his six hundred sworn companions, the soldurii, surrendered. Silver coins bearing his name are known, making him one of the few Aquitanian rulers attested in his own time.
