al-Mughith Umar
Al-Mughith Umar was the last Ayyubid ruler of Kerak, in Transjordan, from 1250 to 1263. A grandson of Sultan al-Kamil, he made the fortress a refuge for Mamluk dissidents and twice tried to invade Egypt against the new Mamluk regime. In 1263 Sultan Baybars lured him out of Kerak, arrested him and had him put to death, and the castle passed to the Mamluks.
