Ali Sher Khan Anchan

d. c. 1624 · 17th century

Ali Sher Khan Anchan was the most famous ruler of the Maqpon dynasty of Baltistan, reigning in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. From Skardu he campaigned into Ladakh, Gilgit and Chitral and is credited with building the Skardu fort and irrigation works. He maintained friendly relations with the Mughal emperors.
