20th century · 20th century

Ali Yusuf Kenadid was the last sultan of Hobyo in central Somalia, succeeding his father Yusuf Ali Kenadid. In 1925 he refused Italian demands to disarm and accept direct rule, and the forces of governor Cesare Maria De Vecchi occupied the sultanate, which was annexed to Italian Somaliland. He was then sent into exile.
