Hobyo
Hobyo is a port town on the Indian Ocean coast of central Somalia, in the Mudug region. It was the capital of the Sultanate of Hobyo, founded by Yusuf Ali Kenadid around 1878, which exported livestock, hides and gum until Italy annexed it in 1925. In the 2000s the town became known as a base for Somali piracy.
