Allectus

d. 296 · 3rd century

Allectus was a Roman usurper who ruled Britain from 293 to 296. A finance official under the breakaway emperor Carausius, he murdered him in 293, after Constantius Chlorus had taken Boulogne, and took power. In 296 Constantius invaded, and his prefect Asclepiodotus defeated and killed Allectus, returning Britain to the empire.
