Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909

1909 · 20th century · Also known as Bangkok Treaty of 1909

The Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909 was an agreement signed in Bangkok by which Siam transferred its claims over the northern Malay states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis to Britain. In return Britain gave up most of its extraterritorial rights in Siam and provided a loan for railway building. The treaty fixed most of the modern border between Thailand and Malaysia.
