Bahadur Shah of Gujarat

r. 1526–1537 · 16th century

Bahadur Shah of Gujarat was sultan of Gujarat from 1526 to 1537. He conquered Malwa and sacked Chittor, but was defeated by the Mughal emperor Humayun in 1535. To win Portuguese help he ceded Bassein and allowed them to build a fort at Diu. In 1537 he was killed during a meeting on a Portuguese ship off Diu, and the sultanate declined.
