Barebone's Parliament
Barebone's Parliament was an assembly of 140 members nominated by Oliver Cromwell and the army officers, which sat from July to December 1653 after the expulsion of the Rump Parliament. It took its name from the London member Praise-God Barebone. Divided over radical reforms, its moderate members voted to dissolve it in December 1653, and the Instrument of Government then made Cromwell Lord Protector.
