Battle of Grahovac

1858 · 19th century · Also known as Battle of Grahovo

The Battle of Grahovac was fought in May 1858 at Grahovac in western Montenegro, where Montenegrin forces under Grand Duke Mirko Petrović-Njegoš defeated an Ottoman army. The victory brought diplomatic intervention by the great powers, whose commission drew the first internationally recognised border of Montenegro in 1859.
