Battle of Katasyrtai

917 · 10th century · Part of the Byzantine–Bulgarian war of 913–927

The Battle of Katasyrtai was fought in 917 near Constantinople, shortly after Simeon I's victory at Achelous. The Bulgarian army defeated a Byzantine force under Leo Phokas in a night attack. Together with Achelous it left Byzantium unable to resist Bulgarian operations in Thrace for several years.
