Battle of Pullalur

c. 618–619 · 7th century

The Battle of Pullalur was fought around 618–619 near Kanchipuram between the Pallava king Mahendravarman I and the Chalukya king Pulakeshin II, who had invaded Pallava territory. The Pallavas claimed it as a victory that saved their capital, though Pulakeshin took the northern Pallava provinces. It opened more than two centuries of war between the Pallavas and the Chalukyas.
