The Battle of Qudayd was fought in 747 at Qudayd, between Mecca and Medina, where Ibadi Kharijite rebels from Hadramawt under Abu Hamza al-Mukhtar ibn Awf defeated an army raised in Medina. Many of the Medinan fighters were killed, and the rebels went on to occupy Medina. Umayyad forces recaptured the holy cities in the following year.
