Battle of Tadla

1554 · 16th century

The Battle of Tadla was fought in September 1554 near Tadla in central Morocco between the Saadi sultan Muhammad al-Shaykh and the Wattasid Ali Abu Hassun, who had retaken Fez earlier that year with Ottoman troops from Algiers. Abu Hassun was defeated and killed, ending the Wattasid dynasty and leaving the Saadis masters of Morocco.
