Battle of Valdejunquera

920 · 10th century

The Battle of Valdejunquera was fought on 26 July 920 in Navarre. Abd al-Rahman III of Córdoba, on campaign against the Christian north, defeated the combined armies of Ordoño II of León and Sancho Garcés I of Pamplona, capturing several leading men. The victory showed the military superiority of the Umayyad state, which went on to sack Pamplona in 924.
