Battle of White Wolf Mountain

207 · 3rd century

The Battle of White Wolf Mountain was fought in 207 in present-day Liaoning between the forces of the Chinese warlord Cao Cao and the Wuhuan, who were sheltering Yuan Shao's sons Yuan Shang and Yuan Xi. After a hard march through the mountains, Cao Cao's vanguard under Zhang Liao routed the Wuhuan and killed their leader Tadun. The victory secured northern China for Cao Cao, and thousands of Wuhuan were resettled inside the frontier to serve as cavalry.
