Bek
The bek, or khagan-bek, was the executive ruler in the dual kingship system of the Khazar Khaganate. While the khagan served as a sacred figurehead embodying divine legitimacy, the bek exercised practical political and military power. The arrangement combined symbolic continuity with functional government over the khaganate's diverse population.
