Blount Report

1893 · 19th century

The Blount Report was the 1893 investigation by James Henderson Blount, sent by President Grover Cleveland to Hawaii after the overthrow of Queen Liliʻuokalani. Blount concluded that the US minister John L. Stevens and American marines had improperly helped the conspirators. Cleveland withdrew the annexation treaty from the Senate and called for the queen's restoration, but the Provisional Government refused.
