Boduognatus

fl. 57 BCE · 1st century BCE

Boduognatus was the war leader of the Nervii, a Belgic people of northern Gaul, who commanded them against Julius Caesar in 57 BCE. At the Battle of the Sabis he led a surprise attack on Caesar's legions as they built their camp, which nearly succeeded before the Nervii were crushed with very heavy losses. He is known only from Caesar's account of the Gallic War.
