Sambre
The Sambre is a river of northern France and southern Belgium, flowing about 190 km north-east to join the Meuse at Namur. It is usually identified with the Sabis of Caesar's account, where the Nervii were defeated in 57 BCE. It later flowed through the counties of Hainaut and Namur and the coal and steel region of Charleroi.
