Samerina

from c. 720 BCE · 8th century BCE

Samerina was the Assyrian province created from the former Kingdom of Israel after the fall of Samaria in 722–720 BCE, with Samaria as its seat. Sargon II deported part of the population and settled people from Babylonia, Syria and elsewhere in their place. The province later passed under Babylonian and then Persian rule, when it was known as Samaria.
