Galilee
Galilee is a region in the north of present-day Israel. Saladin's victory over the Crusaders at Hattin in 1187, near the Sea of Galilee, was the foundation of the Ayyubid Empire's reconquest, and the Mamluk victory over the Mongols at Ain Jalut in 1260 in Galilee set a lasting western frontier for the Ilkhanate.
