Crusader states

Also known as Crusader state, Crusaders, Crusader

The Crusader states were Latin Christian states established in the Levant after the First Crusade, including the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the County of Edessa, the Principality of Antioch and the County of Tripoli. They fought against the Seljuks and later the Ayyubid Empire under Saladin, which recaptured Jerusalem in 1187. The last of their strongholds was taken by the Mamluk Sultanate with the fall of Acre in 1291.
