Tripoli
Tripoli is a port city on the Mediterranean coast of Libya and historically a major northern terminus of trans-Saharan caravan routes. Goods from the central Sudan, including slaves, leather and ivory, passed through it to Mediterranean markets. Accounts of the Sokoto Caliphate note that Sokoto's commercial network was connected to Tripoli and Tunis via the desert routes.
