Crusade of Varna
The Crusade of Varna was a campaign of 1443–1444 against the Ottoman Empire by Hungary, Poland, Wallachia and others, led by King Władysław III and John Hunyadi. After the successful 'Long Campaign' of 1443 and the Peace of Szeged, the crusaders renewed the war and were crushed at Varna in November 1444, where Władysław was killed, ending hopes of driving the Ottomans from the Balkans.
