Peace of Szeged
The Peace of Szeged was a ten-year truce agreed in 1444 between the Ottoman sultan Murad II and the Kingdom of Hungary. It restored Đurađ Branković to his Serbian Despotate and returned Smederevo to him. Within weeks the Hungarians broke it to launch the crusade that ended in disaster at Varna in November 1444.
