Kingdom of Hungary

Also known as Transleithania

The Kingdom of Hungary was a central European kingdom ruled by the Habsburgs from the sixteenth century onwards. Under the Compromise of 1867 it became an equal partner in the Dual Monarchy, governing its half of the state, known as Transleithania, with its own parliament. This settlement created the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
