Babylonia
Babylonia was the region of southern and central Mesopotamia centred on the city of Babylon. Its fertile irrigated land made it one of the wealthiest regions of the ancient Near East. It was ruled successively by the Babylonian kings, the Assyrians, the Chaldeans, the Achaemenid Empire and the Seleucid Empire.
