Flanders

Also known as Flemish

Flanders is a historic region in the southern Low Countries, now largely in Belgium. A wealthy centre of textile production and trade, it passed to the Habsburgs and formed part of the Spanish Empire's possessions in the Low Countries, where it was heavily affected by the wars of the Dutch Revolt.
