Book of Genesis

The Book of Genesis is the first book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament, recounting the creation of the world, the Flood and the stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. It states that Noah's ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat, a name derived from Urartu. Traditionally ascribed to Moses, it was compiled from several sources and probably reached its final form in the sixth or fifth century BCE.
