Bucharest

Bucharest is the capital and largest city of Romania, on the Dâmbovița River in the Wallachian plain. First recorded in 1459 under Vlad III, it became the main residence of the princes of Wallachia and in 1862 the capital of the united Romanian state. It grew into the country's political, economic and cultural centre.
