Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in West Africa, with its capital at Ouagadougou. Its central plateau was the home of the Mossi kingdoms, whose rulers still hold traditional authority, and the country was the French colony of Upper Volta before independence in 1960. It took its present name, meaning land of upright people, under Thomas Sankara in 1984.
